FAQ
Q: I heard you can
find a wedding photographer for less than $200! Why should
I spend anymore than that?
A: Short Answer - watch this
video
A: Long Answer - Wedding photography
always appear easy, and a lot of amateurs want to test
the waters and build their portfolio or just to give it
a shot. Your money does not go only towards the several
hundred pictures you end up with after the wedding, but
it goes towards a secure feeling of having an established
photographer capturing images of one of the most important
days of your life. Furthermore, I think it's your ceremony
that's more important than me getting the shot from that
very best angle. I try to be stealthy and stay in
the background while I capture the event without being
intrusive. I doubt many couples would prefer a photographer
sticking a camera in their face...
Q: I'm trying to pick
between this local photo studio and a photographer...
What's the major difference?
A: This is your personal preference,
but I'll try to outline a few key differences - There
are almost always multiple photographer(s) working at
a photo studio. A lot of times the owner of a studio is
the main photographer and he/she contracts others to shoot
in place of them while they can double or triple book
during hot seasons. The pictures you like there may not
be produced by the photographer being assigned at your
wedding. You'll want to double check with them if you're
booking a wedding with those studios. You may also want
to check the detailed pricing list for prints before you
commit.
Q: Are you more of
a photojournalist type, or traditional..? I don't feel
too comfortable with posing...
A: I consider myself a blend of artistic
and photojournalistic. I don't walk around and take snapshots,
but I prefer to capture the essence of the event, and
more importantly - your day. I don't believe in force
the bride & groom into poses they don't feel comfortable
with. Instead, I spend the time to meet them, warm up
with them, and get a sense of their personality and work
with them to bring them out. I believe true happiness
lead to the best pictures. You should get a pretty good
idea seeing the pictures in the online portfolio
here. :-)
Q: I like some of the
images I've seen from these bridal magazines here, can
you shoot these for me?
A: Yes and No. If you want exactly those
images, your best bet is to find that photographer to
capture the same images for you if you want them to come
out exactly the way you have seen in the magazine. But
if there is a specific style of images that you really
enjoy, bring them to our meeting and see if that's something
that we can together achieve! You are strongly encouraged
to bring visual samples since it may be rather difficult
to describe a picture with words... afterall, a picture
is worth a thousand words! :-)
Q: Can we set up a
meeting before I commit to contracting you?
A: Absolutely! In fact, I always prefer
to meet with my clients personally to ensure we're on
the same page on what we expect, whether it is Black and
White you prefer, or this special effect you've seen in
my work, or if you like the left side of your face better
than the right. I take all my assignments personally,
and I always try my absolute best to do it right.
Q: My parents want
some classic poses with them
A: I think it's safe to say that all
parents will want a good picture or two with their children
as they tie the knot. It is understandable that every
bridal party has certain shots that they wish to get.
We can build a short list of the special shots you wish
to take, and make sure we pick the right time during your
day to have them taken.
Q: Do you Photoshop
all your images?
A: I carefully look over each and every
image I shoot and screen them carefully. I then apply
my post-processing technique to bring out the very best
of every image. Images that I believe you'll love the
most or I believe best represent your event will then
be specially retouched with Photoshop. All the prints
you receive will go through this process and will be developed
by my trusted photo lab with high quality Kodak Royal
Photo Paper or equivalent with a beautiful Luster
finish.
Q: I need to reschedule
my wedding day due to ??? reasons.
A: Under normal circumstances, down payment
is non-refundable. If you need to reschedule your wedding
day, I'll try my best to work with you to find a date
that works for the both of us, or in the worst case scenario
assign another proven photographer to shoot your wedding
if I am already booked on the day you request. Since I
believe I should dedicate all I have to a couple, I never
double book and turn down all other possible assignments
on the date you book.
Q: I'm a little confused about print sizes.
A: You're not alone. This print size comparison chart that I made should make it clear for you.
Q: Anything else I
should know?
A: Umm... let me
know if I'm missing anything here. :-)
Q: Wait! What do you
shoot with?
A: Currently a Nikon D300 and a Nikon
D200 as a second body. I mainly shoot with an Nikkor AF-S
80-200 F/2.8, Tokina 16-50 F/2.8 ATX Pro, Tokina 12-24
F/4 AF Pro, and the list goes on and on for about 2 pages
long... I'll save you some reading time here.
Q: I'm looking for
a videographer, florist, makeup artist...
A: Take a quick look at my referrals
page and see if it works for you.
Q: Wait! I have more
questions!
A: Argh, give me a call
or shoot me an email! :-) |
